1.)  Question:  What is SEO?

Answer:  Search Engine Optimization is practice of making your website compatible to Search Engine algorithm for better search rankings. According to wikipedia, the free encyclopedia – “search engine optimization is a set of methods aimed at improving the ranking of a website in search engine listings”. SEO is an on-going practice with emphasis on ‘off-page’ and ‘on-page’ optimization in order to attract the search engine spiders and increase visibility.

2.) Question:  What is Ethical SEO (White Hat) and Unethical (Black Hat) SEO?

Answer:  Ethical search engine optimization (White Hat SEO), in short:, is to follow guidelines and accepted standards to search engine optimize a web site. Which means we don't use any tricks or cheats that are sometime employed by "Black Hat" practitioners. The end result of Ethical  or "White Hat SEO" is often stronger positioning that is much longer lasting, and can withstand frequent changes made to algorithms.

Black Hat Optimization on the other hand, uses optimization strategies that can sometimes result in faster results, but most often are not long lived. Some Black Hat strategies can result in being penalized, or even permanently banned by some major search engines and directories.  White Hat optimization is the only way to go, don't take the risk of having your site banned.  Black hat optimization often employ "Tricks" such as hiding white text on white background, spamming keyword tags with hundreds of keywords, or cloaking, these black hat methods may appear to be a good thing, and in the past did fool the Search engine's.  Google and Bing are now programmed to find and ban sites using Black Hat (unethical) methods of SEO.

3.) Question:  Why is Our Website Not Ranking in Google?

Answer:  This is by far the most common FAQ we are asked.  There can be many reasons a web site doesn't show up, or display well, in search engines results, as Google uses over 200 variables in calculating a websites rank, any of the following can affect on your web sites search engine positioning, and web traffic.

  • Not using a properly structured website design
  • Site may not be readable by the engines
  • Missing information critical to properly index your webpage.
  • Misconfigured htaccess or robots.txt files
  • Use of some scripts can prevent search engine spiders or bots from crawling your web site or reading its content.
  • High competition with no optimization
  • Your site may have a penalty from Google Panda or Google Penguin updates.

Note - Repeated submissions to search engines will not help.  Never employ a service which automatically or manually submits your site to search engines more than once, this is unnecessary, and can be considered spam by some engines and major directories.  This is what the Google Penguin update was made to stop.

4.) Question:  What are Keywords or Key Phrases - How Do I know Which Ones I Want?

Answer:  A keyword or key phrase is a term a user would type into Google to find your website.  For example, for our website, our primary keyword is "Atlanta Joomla Designer".  As typing this phrase into Google will in return, display V2interactive.net's website.

In regards to picking a keyword or phrase for your site, we have a plan for that:  Firstly we take a list of keywords and phrases provided by the client. As the client is an expert in their field, they often have a vast knowledge about their clients, products, services and customers, which leads to the generation of the first keywords and phrases list.

Secondly, the words and phrases are analyzed and the KEI (Keyword Efficiency Index) is generated for each of them. This is a statistical score that is generated from the number of times the word or phrase is searched for, against the number of competing pages. This allows us to see which words and phrases would be best used on your site, and for which search engines it would be best for.

Thirdly, after seeing our evidence-based report advising you which keywords and phrases will be the best for you, you make the decision which ones you want to use and which ones you don't.  V2interactive will base project budgets along side your keyword selection.  For lower budgets we would go for geo-located low competition terms, as higher budget would get more national searches with more competitive terms.  In reality, the competition of your keywords has a direct ratio on the budget/ SEO project price.

5.) Question: How Long Does SEO Take?  How Long Will The Results Last?

Answer:  This largely depends upon how old the site is and the type of keywords you want to rank for. If the site is new, you shouldn’t expect to see significant results from Google until the site has been in Google’s index for at least six months. Results for new sites can be seen in Google or Bing in as little as 3-4 months. For sites that have been in existence for a year or more, results from on-page optimization can generally be seen within a few weeks of being placed online.

Google, is highly dependent upon links in its calculation, and prefers links that have been in existence for a long time. As a result, if the market space is competitive, it may take six months or more to see significant results.  However, when building links, it can take Google several weeks up to several months to crawl and index links found, thus, reflecting on your website and your rankings.  Typically, we see a strong upward progression in ranking and traffic between month 3-4.  Since there is a delay, it's very common for clients to see improvements in their SEO 3-6 months after the contract is over.  This is simply due to Google finding new links that were placed months before hand.

Your SEO results could last several months to years, or it could last simply several weeks.  This all depends on the competition, market/niche and how often your site is updated and maintained.  Typically, our clients hold their rankings for years (from a 6 month SEO plan) with standard competition keywords.  However, more competitive keywords often need maintenance in SEO and a link building plan to ensure they're ahead of their competition.

6.) Question: What Type of Results Should I Expect From SEO?

Answer:  Anyone considering SEO will want to know if it’s worth the money that they put into it. The answer is definitely. SEO is but a small portion of the total costs of a website, what is the point of investing time and money into creating a website and maintaining it if no one is going to view it? In the bigger picture, the cost of SEO is minimal and will help you to secure a spot on the map for your website.

The average increase in traffic, according to marketingsherpa.com, is 110% per month when outsourcing the SEO process and the average conversion rate of companies that outsource their SEO process increase by 20% due to the references becoming more targeted.

V2interactive's studies have shown that you will start seeing an increase in traffic after the 3rd/4th month. Because each industry and each business are so unique it is hard to determine the exact ROI that can be expected, however, a positive ROI will be achieved.

7.) Question: Does Google Frown Upon SEO's and SEO?

Answer:  No, Google even offers SEO advice and a plethora of SEO tools itself. It’s an ages old myth that Google fight SEOs. In fact the Google employees and SEO practitioners speak at the same conferences and work together as business partners. Most SEO companies are big clients of Google as they also buy PPC ads from Google.  In fact, Google's Spam Prevention head, Matt Cutt's often answers questions from SEO's on video and via his blog.

8.) Question: How Much Does SEO Cost?

Answer:  It depends on the level of competition, keywords, site structure and how much work we will need to do to get the site ranked well. Costs can start at the low end for customized packages ($500) and go up to a couple thousand per month. We ensure the biggest return for your dollar and we are flexible in planning and pricing in order to get you a plan that works for your website rankings and your wallet.  Please read "How Much DOES SEO Cost" to learn more about SEO pricing.

9.) Question: Do We Have to Make Changes to Our Website?

Answer:  This will depend on the structure and coding of the site. Usually, the coding and underlying navigational structure can be improved for search engine optimisation without changing the appearance of the website.

Changes to the look of the website may only be necessary if it uses elements that cannot be replicated by the use of alternative techniques. These include elements such as frames, JavaScript navigation, Flash, dynamic content, or pages that require the user to login in order to see the content. However, in most cases, the use of alternate techniques and coding can mean that the look of your pages remain visually unchanged.

10.) Question: What's Included In You SEO Services?

Answer:  Our SEO services cover your website from head to toe.  We include the following in all of our monthly SEO plans:  on-page reporting and customizations, competition research, keyword research, social media management, active 1-way link building, press submissions and business listings.  Although we have over a dozen types of link items we attack, we only use the ones that will flow with your website and profile best for the most natural and longest lasting results.
